Miami Dolphins: 5 Reasons Jay Cutler is better than Colin Kaepernick

So, it made sense that Cutler got the nod for a one-year deal worth $10 million plus $3 million in incentives.

With the Bears last season, Cutler played in just five games, as he totaled four touchdown passes and five interceptions. "Good pocket skills. Fits in well with what we do". However, with the news that Jay Cutler has inked a one-year agreement with the Dolphins to play in 2017 after all, fans of the Chiefs might want to take notice.

According to the Miami Herald's Armando Salguero, Tim Tebow was one of the players the Dolphins were considering signing before Cutler agreed to join them.

"We loved our time working with Jay and wish him the best back on the field this year with the Dolphins", Fox said in a statement Sunday.

Miami grabbed headlines when quarterback Ryan Tannehill was hurt in a non-contact incident at training camp.

"I would probably say my wife, Kristin (Cavallari), probably talked me into it more than anybody else could". Think of it: Cutler and Tannehill or more or less comparable in that they both have similar arm strength and talent.

Cutler said his two sons and pickup basketball games at his alma mater, Vanderbilt, helped him stay in shape.

He need not worry about Matt Moore, either, beyond the mission of smoothing over any tension that might exist among Miami players who trust and respect Tannehill's long-time backup.

The Dolphins have not announced a timetable for Tannehill's recovery or even if he will undergo surgery, which likely would be season-ending. His left knee buckled while he scrambled without contact. Speaking at his introductory presser, Cutler also claimed he wasn't promised the starting job, but coach Adam Gase - as well as his salary - have already said as much.

Now, Cutler didn't practice Monday and isn't going to step right in to first-team snaps on Tuesday.
