Oregon WR Darren Carrington dismissed following DUII arrest

The Oregon Ducks dismissed Darren Carrington from the football team after the wide receiver's DUI arrest on July 1.

Carrington was arrested in the early morning hours of July 1, following an accident at a McDonald's at 659 E. Broadway in Eugene.

OR had indefinitely suspended Carrington after police stopped him in downtown Eugene. Without Carrington, Oregon will likely lean on sophomore Dillon Mitchell and freshman Darrian McNeal to step up and fill the void left by the former star receiver. "We will always consider Darren a Duck and support him in any way we can".

According to Eugene police, Carrington was arrested after colliding with a pole in the drive-through lane at a McDonald's near the OR campus. "We wish him all the best in his future endeavors", head coach Willie Taggart wrote in a statement. The speedy Carrington averaged 17.1 yards per receptions with 15 touchdowns during his career.

Carrington has had several off-field incidents while at OR, including being suspended by the NCAA for the 2014 College Football Playoff title game for failing a drug test.

In the fall, Carrington was accused of pushing a man and breaking the man's arm while dressed like the Joker for Halloween.

As a junior in 2016, Carrington led OR with 606 receiving yards.
