Ball echoed the thoughts of his dad, LaVar, that he will recover quickly from his poor shooting forward. In front of the sold out crowd in Vegas of nearly 18,000 fans, this game lived up to the hype.

The main storyline of this game was the battle between this year's No.2 and No.3 picks. Ball v.s Jayson Tatum. He also had a block and a turnover but Dozier only played three minutes.

In the fourth quarter, the Lakers led 76-74, before Brice Johnson put the moves on the rookie. This could be a constant distraction or a great decoy, as there are only so many reporters and maybe LaVar takes some of the pressure off the young Laker players from answering questions immediately after the game. Ball has been touted as the franchise's savior since draft night by fans, and since the middle of college basketball season by his father. Though this game had no significant value in terms of standings, but bragging rights are always nice.

As LaVar Ball increasingly became a national media figure for his outspoken and sometimes controversial promotion of his family brand, Big Ball Brand, some felt that he may be a distraction and unwanted voice around any team that drafted Lonzo.

"Until we win, I'm not gonna be happy", he said, per Joey Ramirez of NBA.com. "But we didn't get the win so that's all I really care about".

If one chooses to look at things a certain way, Los Angeles Lakers guard Lonzo Ball has nowhere to go but up. Being used as a stretch center, the 6-foot-7, 240-pounder dragged Boston out of a double-digit deficit by pick-and-popping traditional Lakers big man Ivica Zubac to pieces.

Ball found Kuzma open for a 3-pointer and then got out in transition after David Nwaba forced a steal. The coaching staff will resolve that issue in scrimmages and practices.

Kyle Kuzma had 31 points and nine rebounds for the Lakers. He made 5 of 13 shots and 1 of 5 from deep. Even when Tatum's strength and footwork don't yield makeable shot attempts from the midrange, he's capable of knocking down turnaround jumpers and fadeaways with a hand in his face. Not only was he contributing on the offensive end, but he was very active all night long playing defense.
