Free Agent Derrick Rose Meeting With Cavaliers

There is little doubt that Irving, Butler and Towns would give the Wolves one of the better trios in the National Basketball Association, but Butler and Towns have to know that any trade for Irving would mean Andrew Wiggins is headed to Cleveland. Rose was initially viewed as a possible backup to Irving, but he could now be a starter if the Cavs make a deal.

Rose's meeting comes in the wake of the Kyrie Irving trade request, after the 25-year-old point guard met with the Cavaliers to tell them that he didn't want to play with LeBron James anymore and gave them a list of four preferred teams. Now that Derrick is interested, they might push for Irving's trade to acquire the free agent.

However, he could be joining Cleveland at a turning point for the franchise.

The Cavs' situation could be the best fit for Rose, 28, who is coming off his best season in five years. Finding a team for his liking will not be an issue for Derrick since he has great potential as a player.

There also have been plenty of rumors involving Phoenix and Eric Bledsoe.

Additionally, in the days after Griffin's departure, the Cavs began aggressively looking at trades to land either Jimmy Butler or Paul George.

Irving had reportedly been "thinking about this day for some time", and had reached out to people around him to get advice on how to go about the process.

However, that deal may still provide the most immediate help to the Cavaliers. They might have to wait until December 15 to do any deal. That's about the best Riley can do, unless Cleveland is for some reason enamored with Tyler Johnson or Josh Richardson.

The former NBA MVP took to Twitter on Monday to address recent questions he has received about whether or not he is influencing Irving as the point guard tries to secure a way out of Cleveland. That's the debate that must be happening in several league offices right now.
