Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt renewed for season 4x

Kimmy Schmidt's third season, which dropped in May, left fans questioning what's next for many of their favorite characters.

Along with Kemper and Burgess, Jane Krakowski and Carol Kane round out the main series cast. The series follows Kimmy (Ellie Kemper), who is freed from living in an underground cult after 15 years and moves to New York City.

The amazingly amusing and LGBTQ-inclusive Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt has been renewed for a fourth season according to a press release from Netflix today. The renewal comes less than a month after the show's third season launched on May 19.

Kimmy started with a straight-to-series order at NBC, moving to Netflix before the premiere with a second-season order tacked onto the first. It has also been nominated for Outstanding Comedy Series twice.

The actress, who has also starred in the United States version of The Office and Hollywood film Bridesmaids, will release a book via publishers Scribner in 2018. No word on possible guest stars or where the story is going, but with the kind of downer ending for Kimmy and the gang in Season 3, there's nowhere to go but up. Tina Fey, Robert Carlock, Jeff Richmond and David Miner serve as executive prodocuers.
