Katy Perry opens up about depression, suicidal thoughts

The 32-year-old singer opened up about past suicidal thoughts during a live streamed therapy session to promote her new album, Witness, on Friday.

"I'm a bit more nerdy than everybody thinks I am, I'm just a big goofball", Katy said, before continuing to explain how, as a kid she didn't truly know how to play and has only recently grasped the hug. It is in tears that the pop singer expresses herself on this delicate subject: "I feel ashamed to have had these ideas, to have been so low and to have been so depressed".

"There's a lot of other things out there in the world that people need to be focused on", she said, adding: "God bless her, honestly".

"I've been in dark places before, it's not just been one time that I've felt really low, and I've had my own addictions that I struggle with, whether that's love, or substance (abuse), or things like that, and it's up and down", she explained.

During her tearful conversation with Dr. Siri Sat Nam Singh, Perry discussed a range of topics, including her battles with alcoholism and depression.

"Look at Katy Perry - she's so glamorous, she's rich, she's luxurious, successful and, like, Katheryn Hudson - I didn't have any money, I didn't have any influence, I didn't have anything".

"Sometimes it's a dance where I was like there's a trap and there's a trap and sometimes it gets so big that it's all just orbiting around me", she added.

On Saturday, while recording the videos, Perry hinted at long-time feud with Blank Space star Taylor Swift. Subsequently, she made poignant confessions about the suicidal thoughts she had after her divorce from Russell Brand. And I love her, and I want the best for her.

"He's one of my good friends", she said.

"I am ready to let it go", Perry told Huffington.

"I don't want to talk anymore", Jenner said. There are bigger fish to fry, and there are real problems in the world.

Katy Perry fans will be able to get more intimate with the pop star than ever before by watching her every move this week. "So I just learned that".

And, as Katy said, the goal of her sharing her lives with everyone was so that we could see the real her.
