Cavs' best effort not good enough to beat the Warriors

The Warriors were trailing by six points with three minutes of game three remaining but Kevin Durant sent home a three-pointer with 45 seconds left on the clock to seal a 118-113 win in Cleveland. Golden State won 118-113.

LeBron James knew what might happen when Kevin Durant merged with the Warriors, a 73-win team out for revenge. James dropped to the floor and a hush fell over Cleveland's crowd as the three-time champ laid in the foul lane like a boxer sprawled on the canvas after taking an upper cut.

CLEVELAND (AP) - One victory left for the Golden State Warriors to claim another title.

One more victory and they clinch their second title in three years.

Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors is a terrific player, a two-time MVP and an National Basketball Association champion.

"I mean, of course, you're deflated from losing a game that you should have won", Lue said. "I think we have grown and matured just mentally of how to just pace yourself through this long year and take every day as a new experience and something that you can kind of take control of".

The 2017 NBA Finals will continue on Friday as the Cleveland Cavaliers host the Golden State Warriors for Game 4.

The Warriors aren't just looking for another championship.

I don't think that our careers are the same as far as changing teams.

"That was liberating right there", Durant said.

That roster would give these Warriors a chance against any great team from the past - and gives most of their opponents no chance against them. "I mean, just hits an unbelievable game victor, just comes down in transition, that only Kevin Durant can hit".

What's happened is probably beyond what either even imagined.

Here are three big takeaways from the Warriors' win, moving them to a ideal 15-0 in this year's playoffs.

Stephen Curry #30 and Kevin Durant #35 of the Golden State Warriors react late in the game against the Cleveland Cavaliers in Game 3 of the 2017 NBA Finals at Quicken Loans Arena on June 7, 2017 in Cleveland, Ohio. Clearly they have no real competition in the East, but the idea of running into these same Warriors in the Finals next year has to be quite daunting.

If the Cavaliers can orchestrate another comeback, they would become the first team in Finals history to erase a 3-0 deficit, and the first repeat winners since the Miami Heat in 2012 and 2013. He just had to come in and just do what he had to do. Irving added 38 points, six rebounds, and three assists, and in total, it wasn't enough.

Durant finished 31 points and eight rebounds, with guard Klay Thompson adding 30 points in a breakout performance after two weak games to start the series. "He's been an incredible player in this league for a long time and I think he senses this is his time, his moment, his team. and I think he's having the time of his life out there". They all love playing off the ball, cutting, moving, passing.

Durant's current team mates, however, call him unselfish when it comes to understanding how he can impact the game each night. Starting center Tristan Thompson went scoreless for the second time in the series. "So it's been fun".
