Awful, Eagles lose 0-2 to Bafana Bafana

Nigeria's Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr, has said Saturday's qualifying match against Bafana Bafana of South Africa will be a hard game for the team.

"I need warriors", declared newly appointed Bafana Bafana coach Stuart Baxter, the only South African coach to have defeated Nigeria, when he announced the squad.

Ikem-Anibeze said further that Dalung has meanwhile urged football lovers and other Nigerians to collectively support the Super Eagles in their quest for 2019 AFCON and 2018 World Cup tickets.

"We believing in what we can do, we have to believe in our strengths and not worry too much about them". And in the second half, we knew that the experienced South Africans could be risky on counters and that happened, " Rohr told the media after the game.

Baxter said he would find it hard to single out any individual for this performance, saying it was an all-round performance by the 11 players and the substitutes.

"There is no pressure on me, the team is open to all good players from Nigeria".

He said, "We had difficulties in finishing the match because we made so many efforts in the first half while some of our players were exhausted in the second half".

"We controlled the game until the goal they conceded".

"I'm confident that my players will give their all but I'm not confident about what I've taught them after three training sessions".

"We were compact in the opening 20 minutes but once we realised we could open them up, we went for the jugular and boy". Baxter's men are in second place on goals difference, while Nigeria is third with no points.

Libya, who had won 5-1 earlier on Friday against Seychelles in Egypt lead the group.

The Super Eagles have missed the two previous versions after their bad performance in the qualifiers.
