BOSTON (AP) - Clarke MacArthur scored a power-play goal 6:30 into overtime and Ottawa beat Boston to win the first-round series in six games.

Marcus Johansson provided the tying and winning goals as the Capitals pulled out a 2-1 overtime win at Toronto. Ovechhin seemed to suffer no after-effects.

"(Ovie) will be good to go for game 6, this after Ovechkin was re-evaluated Saturday morning", Coach Barry Trots reassured fans in a conference call Saturday afternoon.

"We're ready. We're excited".

The Capitals finished third in the regular season with 312 minors and Tom Wilson took four alone in Game 5 and was benched for it.

He said Alzner is "day to day and improving".

"He's the face of this franchise", Trotz said.

Team efforts are how you win in the postseason, and that's precisely what the Capitals did to win four games against a fast, talented, relentless Leafs team.

The Chicago Blackhawks went through playoff losses before they ascended to a perennial Stanley Cup contender, as did the Pittsburgh Penguins slightly before that. "That's what we want to get to".

The Caps were supposed to breeze through the Maple Leafs but were tasked with a challenge that turned out to be harder on them than originally thought. "It's not like I stuck my knee out or got my arms high or anything like that". We're in the same thing. Finally, Johansson netted his second of the game to finish the game and the series. “They are going to come with their absolute best, and were going to have to come with our absolute best game.”. “Certain hits in the game, I think when you have an ability to injure a player. we just have different viewpoints. It was anticipated it would be a close one, and while the leafs maintained the pressure it wasn't enough to make it to a Game 7.

Desharnais, in the slot, one-timed a Leon Draisaitl cross-ice pass past Sharks goaltender Martin Jones to cap an overtime session dominated by Edmonton.

The Maple Leafs have been to the dance.

"They have a great penalty kill; they have a great goalie", Bozak said. I think we have a bright future.

"From our perspective, we got to play a really good team, a really well-coached team with really good players", he said.
