John Wall drains game-winning three, forces Game 7 vs. Celtics

This was the moment - the feeling of hitting a game-winning shot in an elimination game, keeping his team's season alive and giving the Wizards a chance to advance to the Eastern Conference finals for the first time since well before Wall was born with a win Monday in Boston - that Washington's superstar point guard has been craving for his entire career.

Game Seven will take place in TD Garden in Boston on Monday night and it will take a special effort from the Wizards to break the trend of home-court advantage.

John Wall's 3-pointer with 3.9 seconds left made it happen.

Isaiah Thomas and Avery Bradley each scored 27 points for the Celtics. The victor will tip off the Eastern Conference finals Wednesday in Cleveland.

John Wall's statistics haven't been affected much by the venue.

In the Bill Russell era, the Celtics were unstoppable in Game Seven, winning all 10 appearances. If he'd had 20, we'd be talking about Game 1 versus the Cavaliers right now. We knew they (were) kind of copy cat what we did.

"We don't win Game 7", Wall said, "we feel like it was a failure". "We play each other during the regular season, we split the series 2-2". Both teams will have two days of rest and to prepare for Game 7, the most deciding game of the series.

Though as a team they haven't shot the ball well from three-point range which had been a strength all season, the Wizards have scored 111, 119, 116 and 121 vs. Boston. Forward Markieff Morris, who scored 16 points in Washington's win, gave Stephen A.an enthusiastic butt-slap on his way to the locker room. Heading home will make it easier for the Celtics to shake their brutal finish in Game 6. The Wizards bench has been atrocious for much of the series but in particular in Boston.

That was Game 6 of the Finals when he was in Dallas, but that crucial victory came on the road.

"It was just amusing to me", Wall said to CSN Mid-Atlantic of the Celtics' all-black. Wall labored through a 1-for-12 shooting start, bringing back memories of meek Game 6 performances in 2014 and 2015.

Wall was pissed. He could not show it on the court for most of Friday's game, but the ball was still in his hands at the end.

"Yeah, I mean, both teams just play really hard", said Al Horford after the 92-91 loss Friday, summing up the case for the two sides.

After receiving the inbound pass from Al Horford, Isaiah Thomas missed on off-balance 3-point attempt. Wall's heroic three-pointer edged the game for the Wizards.

The Celtics adjusted to that strategy by finding open cutters in game 5.

In a series in which the home team has won every game - not just in the postseason but the regular season as well - the Celtics will look to hold serve one final time with a trip to the Eastern Conference finals hanging in the balance. Go to the 1:07 through 1:21 mark of the podcast so you can hear a familiar voice. But earlier in the regular season, the Wizards, who were beefing with the Celtics already, chose to break it out in an ordinary game.

Korea isn't the first country we think of when it comes to basketball in Asia, where China and the Philippines take the spotlight.
