Alvarez dumped his World Boxing Council middleweight world belt a year ago when the sanctioning body gave him a 15-day window to make a fight with undefeated Golovkin, now owner of the WBC, World Boxing Association and International Boxing Federation middleweight world titles.

"As a person, I don't know him well, but just from what I hear from his actions and all, it's like a guy that just doesn't sustain what he says". The big surprise was however after the match when it was revealed that Alvarez and Golovkin would be finally facing off on September 16.

Lemieux hopes to get a shot at Alvarez.

Golovkin, who was ringside and made his way into the ring, had the crowd in a frenzy.

The September bout will be at the middleweight limit of 160 pounds.

The Canelo Alvarez vs Gennady Golovkin mega fight is something most have been waiting on though negotiations bogged down each time. (50-3-1, 32KOs) at the T-Mobile center in Las Vegas, Nevada.

This much-anticipated bout should deliver high-quality television, and the victor could find himself in the ring opposite Gennady Golovkin next.
