Trump's impact exceeds accomplishments in first 100 days

THE FACTS: He actually did promise in his plan to "begin the process of selecting a replacement for Justice Scalia".

President Donald Trump should "ignore the critics" and not sweat the 100-day benchmark on his presidency, remarked Marc.

For example, his two disputed travel ban executive orders are languishing, blocked by federal judges. He is set to sign a series of executive orders on energy on Friday.

President Trump is planning to hold a rally on day 100 in the battleground state of Pennsylvania. And the White House will roll out a website this week created to highlight Trump's accomplishments over this first 100 days.

George W. Bush did not sign the No Child Left Behind act until January 2002, almost a year after taking office. Unfortunately, this is not the kind of lifestyle that can be associated with presidency because the president is already at the top.

While on the campaign trail, President Donald Trump claimed that he could be "presidential" if he wanted. He lost his first national security adviser, Michael Flynn, over Russian Federation questions less than a month into his term.

According to Gallup's latest weekly tracking poll of the president's performance, published Sunday, 40 percent of Americans approve of the job the president is doing - with 54 percent saying they disapprove.

Clinton, meanwhile, had a chaotic first 100 days but went on to preside over an economic expansion and left office with high approval ratings. In February, 44% had approved of the president. Barack Obama clocked in with a 63 percent approval rating in the first quarter of his first term. More than half, 53%, said they disapprove of his job.

In the 2016 election, Trump received 46.1 percent of the popular vote, compared to Democrat Hillary Clinton's 48.2 percent, with Clinton receiving nearly 2.9 million more votes.

Why is Trump's approval so low compared to his predecessors? The power of the president is the power of persuasion. Trump also received praise from conservatives for his many executive orders that included tougher stances on immigration and strengthening law enforcement.

Trump has consistently denounced his low approval ratings as "fake news", often citing polling that predicted he would lose the 2016 election as evidence that surveys, and those who conduct them, are biased against him.

The environment is one of those issues. His polling shows him to be the unpopular failure he is. Rather than achieving his promises, the contract calls for his administration "to immediately pursue" three, multipoint action items meant to "clean up corruption", protect American workers and "restore security".

Trump's effort to repeal Obamacare is another example of his struggle against public opinion. The attempt to get health care reform failed.

"The Republicans have the votes in the House and the Senate and the White House to keep government open".

He has done big things and has plenty of time to get more big things done.
