Galaxy S8, S8+: Samsung launches new flagship phones in India

Speculation on other upgrades includes talk of a borderless edge-to-edge screen and curved glass, also similar to the new Galaxy model. The only thing which we didn't know what the price of both the devices.

Samsung Electronics Co. said Wednesday the controversial red-tinted display on some of its brand-new Galaxy S8 smartphone can not be considered a defect, while some critics are predicting the issue may hurt the company's image like last year's battery scandal.

If you buy phones and you're in it for the long haul, like 2-3 years, then things like how easy is the phone to fix is an important question. However, the battery in both devices is not one of them.

Samsung S8 and S8 plus devices have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 Octa-core (2.35 GHz Quad + 1.7 GHZ Quad) processor. The Galaxy S8 and S8+ are built with more spacious internal storage that starts at 64GB with an expandable memory that can handle up to 256GB via microSD card. The USP of both the devices, however, is the display on the front. The image shared in the report shows both a standard Galaxy S8 and the larger Plus variant affected by the red tint. The displays sport a resolution of 2961x1440 pixels, along with the 18:9 aspect ratio.

On the camera side of things, the things are unchanged from the past year. Both the Galaxy S8 and S8+ house a 12-megapixel dual-pixel rear camera and 8MP selfie camera. Samsung also upped the security feature with an iris scanner, face recognition and fingerprint scanner - moved to the back of the device - to unlock the device. Samsung has so much faith in the AI that it added a dedicated button on the left side of the handset to active it. And yes, don't forget about the new Bixby assistant. The Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ also come with Samsung's trademark always-on functionality. Further, Bixby will also be there inside the camera for you to identify various things, places and also buy some of the stuff from Amazon.
