Another shot at Medicaid expansion in Florida, but same result

Thirty-one states plus the District of Columbia already opted to pursue the expansion, which provided federal funding to broaden eligibility to include most low-income adults with incomes up to 138 percent of the federal poverty level (about $16,000 for an individual). There are different prices negotiated by every insurance carrier, and billing is not the doctor's job. Scrapping that plan weakens the requirement that everyone have health coverage.

Millions more people would end up with skimpier or less affordable coverage. Planned Parenthood provides a broad range of essential health services, including safe, non-judgmental services for victims of sexual violence; screening for cancer, diabetes, and high blood pressure; vaccines; and other preventive health care. Also ask yourself how much money you are willing to take out of your pocket to help pay for the medical care of your next-door neighbor who has lung cancer.

The Bipartisan Policy Center has assembled a team of health policy experts, including Andy Slavitt, who served as acting administrator of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services under President Barack Obama, and Avik Roy, a prominent conservative policy analyst, to come up with bipartisan solutions to pressing health issues, such as insurers leaving some markets. The losers are those middlemen, like private insurance companies, that make the current system so frustrating to navigate and politically fraught. The less clarity insurance carriers have about subsidies and whether the administration will promote 2018 enrollment, the likelier they are to bail or jack up premiums on the policies they offer, to cover themselves. The age of the participants also affects the cost.

You needn't worry. As long as you continue to pay your Medigap Plan F premium you won't lose that coverage.

At the moment, probably no issue is more politicized than that of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), often called Obamacare. The government can't continue deficit spending forever!

People argue that a tax break is not a government expense, but they are wrong.

I suggest two reasons: the lackluster components of the "replace" efforts in Congress that do not align with Americans' desires for decent health coverage, and the generalized fear about losing what has been gained under the ACA.

As the healthcare debate rages on in the US, both sides continue to support for an Affordable Care Act provision allowing students to stay on their parents' healthcare plans until the age of 26.

"I am terrified that Congress will take away Medicaid expansion because most people on Medicaid are like me, what I call the poor middle class", said Jacquelyn of New Orleans.

Loss aversion helps to explain the cognitive dissonance on the part of many Americans who jointly hold the incongruent views that on the one hand reject ObamaCare and on the other hand fear the loss of coverage within it.

Instead, I hear our president talk about sabotaging the ACA to score a political victory. No insurer can cancel someone's policy because they have a pre-existing condition or if they become so sick they hit a lifetime cap. Even Republicans approve of Medicaid expansion by a narrow margin of 51 percent approving and 45 percent disapproving.

Their findings address arguments put forth by some GOP lawmakers, who say the expansion will add to the nation's budget deficit and saddle states with additional coverage costs, forcing them to skimp on other budget priorities like education or transportation.

What's interesting is that these are some of the least "free market" aspects of Obamacare.

Some members of the House Freedom Caucus thought the new plan did not go far enough in repealing Obamacare and lobbied for less federal involvement in health care. It's because it can't be done.

Single payer-or Medicare for All, as it's sometimes referred to in the USA -is a system in which all healthcare financing is provided by one entity, such as (but not always) the federal government.
